Never ones to hold back from injecting as much exoticism in their release taglines as they do their music, Bongo Joe lead out their latest album with the resplendent “proto-groove-kosmische-kraut-afro-disco-exotica-dub”.
The band bestowed such an honour is fellow Genevan outfit L’Eclair, who count The Mauskovic Dance Band, Derya Yildirim & Grup Simsek and Altin Gün as contemporaries in catering for a dance floor leaning outernational grooves. Sauropoda is their second album, recorded across a number of late night jams in the mountains with the band’s live engineer Benoit “Gérard” Erard. Second single ‘Suite II’ is one of the more straight-edged sessions on the album, finding a middle ground between the housey romps of Mount Liberation Unlimited, eccentric tumbles of Flammer Dance Band and the spacey extensions of Prins Thomas.
Sauropoda is out May 24 – buy from Bandcamp. Catch L’Eclair on tour round Europe from May to September.
