(G)I-DLE Score Second Top 5 on World Albums With ‘I Made’ EP Lead by ‘Senorita’

The girl group also earn their fourth top 10 hit on World Digital Song Sales with their Latin-flavored single.

The senoritas of (G)I-DLE have another hit album and single on their hands.

The new girl group’s new I Made: 2nd Mini Album debuts at No. 5 on Billboard‘s World Albums chart. This is the sextet’s second top five entry as they previously entered the chart with their I Am debut EP last year when it peaked at No. 5, making (G)I-DLE only the sixth K-pop girl group at the time to send their debut entry onto World Album and only the fourth to enter the top five. The I Made EP is also this week’s highest new K-pop entry on the chart.

Like I Am, this latest collection of songs sees the (G)I-DLE gals finding inspiration in international sounds for their new single with “Senorita” utilizing a Latin-pop and tango sounds in a powerful, brassy cut that also showcases the group’s knack for unexpected hooks and clever samples. Also just like I Am, leader Soyeon has a heavy hand in production and writing for the songs, writing on each track and producing all but one. The one track that doesn’t see Soyeon on the production credits sees fellow (G)I-DLE member Minnie making her production debut as a co-writer and co-producer on the glitchy, feel-good cut “Blow Your Mind.”

On Billboard‘s World Digital Song Sales chart, (G)I-DLE earn their fourth top 10 single as “Senorita” debuts at No. 7, selling 1,000 downloads and earning 782,000 U.S. streams in the week ending Feb. 28, according to Nielsen Music. “Senorita” is also this week’s highest new entry on the ranking.

To date, the group has earned three other entries including “Latata” (which peaked at No. 4 in May of 2018), “Hann (Alone)” (which peaked at No. 2 in August of that year) and hit No. 1 with their collaboration “Pop/Stars” which is credited to KDA with Madison Beer, (G)I-DLE and Jaira Burns. “Pop/Stars” is at No. 11 on this week’s World Digital Song Sales chart after 17 weeks on the tally.

Overall, (G)I-DLE’s American interest remains high as the group continues strong chart positions across the board for both their singles and albums to further solidify them as a front-running rookie group.
