The lineup also includes Ice Cube, The Flaming Lips, Kaskade, Zeds Dead and Big Gigantic.
Major Lazer, Portugal. The Man, Gucci Mane, Kaskade, Zeds Dead, Ice Cube, Big Gigantic and The Flaming Lips will headline Float Fest 2019, the festival revealed Thursday (April 25). The festival, which is slated for July 20 and 21, will also boast a new setting: a private ranch on the Guadalupe River in Gonzalez, Texas.
“We’re excited to bring back Float Fest for its sixth year and host some of the nation’s most talented artists to produce a unique experience in Gonzales,” said Float Fest founder Marcus Federman. “We’re thrilled to be moving to a new city and keep the tradition of our fest going. Gonzales is known as the birthplace of Texas independence and we can’t think of a better place to celebrate a festival rich in Texas traditions such as live music, floating the river, and camping.”
The move to Gonzalez came earlier this year after Guadalupe County Commissioners denied Federman a permit to host the festival on the San Marcos River where it was previously held.
Float Fest is billed as the “only festival in the world to combine the Texas tradition of floating the river and live music.” This year’s iteration will feature two main stages with non-overlapping sets, over 35 local food vendors and on-site parking with immediate access to the river (as opposed to previous years when shuttle service was required). Campgrounds, including showers, will be located on a pecan orchard, with larger 20×20 square-feet spaces also to be made available. Festivalgoers will also have the opportunity to arrive a day early on July 19 to set up camp and float the river.
Additional amenities at this year’s festival include a VIP lounge with free wi-fi, VIP side-stage viewing decks, storage lockers, early wristband pick-up at off-site locations, an expanded general store with tubing accessories and an all-new “shade and arcade lounge” featuring 30 arcade games along with air conditioning and free wi-fi. Tickets for the latter can be purchased for $35 per day or $50 for the weekend.
Weekend tickets, day tickets and a limited amount of VIP tickets are now available for purchase at floatfest.net. Separate tubing tickets, along with a festival ticket, are required to access the river. The gates to the river will open at 8 a.m. each day.
As in previous years, Float Fest is partnering with local businesses to organize a river cleanup project that will include mesh biodegradable trash bags (available for free with floating tubes), “River Wranglers” on canoes to help collect trash bags and a Float Fest crew that will clean the river before, during and after the festival.
