Atlanta native Callie Day took the judges to church with her moving rendition of Patty Griffin’s “Up to the Mountain.”
“I’ve always wanted to perform but that door has never opened,” the choir singer said on Tuesday night’s episode (Aug. 6) of America’s Got Talent. “This is probably my last chance to do what I love to do best.”
Upon seeing her take the stage, judge Howie Mandel was immediately excited to see what she had in store. “I can’t wait any longer,” he exclaimed before she delivered her heartfelt tune with powerful yet controlled vocals.
All four judges smiled while she sang, and gave Day a standing ovation. Check out the performance below and catch full episodes of America’s Got Talent Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on NBC.
